October:

☼ Begin planning campus exploratory visits for spring
☼ Register for spring or summer SAT I and ACT
March-May:

☼ Narrow list of colleges you plan to visit to a manageable number
☼ Discuss senior courses with your parents and teachers
☼ Schedule parent/student meeting with college guidance counselor
☼ Visit colleges
☼ Apply for summer enrichment opportunities
☼ Take college entrance exams (SAT I and/or ACT)
June-July:
☼ Pray for God’s guidance and direction
☼ Engage in productive activities such as study work, volunteer work, mission trips, etc
☼ Visit colleges
☼ Research scholarships awarded by companies and individual schools. See Appendix.
Recommended Timeline for Application Process: Senior Year
August-October:
☼ Pray for God’s guidance and direction
☼ Take as many challenging courses as is reasonable; strive to make the best grades possible
☼ Complete campus visits during September and October.
☼ Register for the SAT I, SAT II, or ACT four weeks in advance. See test dates on next page
☼ Apply for scholarships (institutions and corporations).
November-January:
☼ Pray for God’s guidance and direction
☼ Submit applications by November 1 if you are applying for early decision
☼ Begin working on regular decision applications.
☼ Spend adequate time preparing essays and personal statements.
☼ Request faculty recommendations at least a month in advance.
☼ Complete applications by December 1 for January 1-15 deadlines.
☼ Withdraw all other applications previously filed if you applied for early decision and you
receive notification of admission.
☼ Plan college finances and obtain financial aid forms (FAFSA, CSS Profile) before holidays
March-May:
☼ Pray for God’s guidance and direction.
☼ Decide which college you will attend and return necessary forms and deposits.
☼ If you are wait-listed, study your options carefully
☼ Complete financial aid plans according to your school’s instructions.
