Computers 8th

Students in computers will be instructed on how to access information, know how to analyze its integrity, and how to make an evaluation using a Christian worldview. Computer instruction is enhanced by an educational methodology that revolves around hands-on instruction. Students will improve their keyboarding speed and accuracy, publish an interactive magazine using Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer, create a travel advertisement using Microsoft PowerPoint, develop a webpage using HTML source code, and create a spreadsheet using Microsoft EXCEL.

Career Exploration

Careers Explorations is designed to teach the student that God has special plans for their future and that He expects us to become productive citizens in our world.  This course helps the students access their own personal skills, to gain usable job skills, & to explore career options.  This course exposes the student to various job skills necessary to survive in today’s work force.  They will explore problem solving, communication skills, organizational skills, decision making, and team participation.  The student will begin looking at the future and begin to understand the education and training needed to accomplish the job that they are interested in.

Computer

Business Computer Information Systems (BCIS): Computer instruction is enhanced by an education methodology that revolves around hands-on instruction.  Our goal is to teach computer mastery by introducing students to skills and providing them with opportunities to practice and apply these skills in meaningful and relevant activity-based projects.  These projects are often aligned with core academic course assignments.  The units are designed to teach BCIS students critical skills in the following technology areas:  applied technology, databases, desktop publishing, graphics, multimedia, operating systems, spreadsheets, telecommunications, word-processing, and digital photo editing

Economics

This economics course is presented as a survey of basic microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts, with a constant emphasis on the fundamental principle that God owns all that we have, including our money, and therefore we are called to be faithful stewards.

AP Economics

This course is designed to enable the student to take the AP Macroeconomics test in May and possibly receive a college credit.  Therefore, the course moves at a faster pace and involves a heavier workload than a level high school course. However, it is still taught from a Biblical worldview, including the fundamental recognition that all we own, including our money, belongs to God and requires our faithful stewardship.
