Descriptions:

Life Science

Life science gives student’s hands-on opportunities to explore God’s creation. Students will examine scientific methodology, taxonomy, cells, genetics, biblical creationism, evolution, botany, and zoology. Students will perform labs, dissections, prepare presentations, and create cell projects. Through these investigations, students will gain a greater understanding of God as Creator and prepare them to defend their faith against evolutionary worldviews.

Earth Science

Earth science affirms the young-earth Creationary view of the earth’s history and rejects the uniformitarian/evolutionary models. Topics include the study of God’s creations of astronomy, meteorology, geology and the hydrosphere. Students will gain a greater knowledge of the stars, sun and planets, moon, the atmosphere, geology, rocks, minerals, fossils volcanoes, earthquakes, and oceans.

IPC

This course will help students experience the richness and intricacy of God’s created world.  The students will be introduced to scientific and technological skills necessary to achieve understanding of the physical and chemical sciences.  Students will view the relationships between four specific themes:  Energy, Systems and Interactions, Scale and Structure, and Stability and Change.  With the various topics of IPC, students will develop scientific principles on which to make personal decisions.

Biology

The goal of biology is to teach scientific content and method and the biblical principles necessary to interpret and apply this knowledge in a God-honoring way. Students will learn cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, the history of life, taxonomy, microbiology, botany, and zoology. Current issues such as abortion, stem cell research, biotechnology, euthanasia, environmentalism, genetic engineering, AIDS, and cancer will also be discussed. About 30% of class time is spent in lab activities, such as demonstrations, dissections, and experiments.

Chemistry

Chemistry is the study of how God ordained the interaction between matter and energy at the molecular level.  The orderliness and uniqueness of God’s creation becomes evident as students take a closer look at the atom and the principles governing our understanding of the behavior of atoms.  In addition, the students are challenged to recognize scientific reasoning which is not in line with solid biblical truth.

Physics

Physics will introduce students to the latest concepts and skills necessary to achieve an in depth understanding of the physical world by investigating objects as small as atoms and as large as galaxies.  The nature of matter of energy and their interrelation is studied, as well as developing practical lab applications and public speaking skills.  In addition, the student’s Biblical worldview is further developed by showing that the Bible and true science do not conflict.  Rather, as Paul wrote in Romans 1, creation gives man no excuse to deny the Creator.
