Is financial assistance available?
We have a variety of scholarships and grants available. You may access "Scholarships and Financial Aid" on the website for more specific information.
What time does school begin and end?
School starts at 8:15am and ends at 2:45pm for Pre-K and Kindergarten or 3:10pm for grades 1 through 12.
Is Covenant Christian School accredited? How about the teachers?
Covenant Christian School is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools Internationa (ACSI)l. Our teachers all possess a Bachelor's Degree and are certified through ACSI.
What grades do you offer?
We offer Pre-Kindergarten (3 or 5 day) through grade 12.
What age must my child be in order to enroll in Pre-Kindergarten?
All Pre-Kindergarten students must be 4 years of age as of September 1st for the school year in which they are applying.
Do you administer an entrance exam as part of the application process?
Usually, we do not administer an entrance exam as part of the application process. The records required to complete an application will give the principal an indication as to whether or not a child is equipped for entrance into the grade for which he is applying.
What curriculum do you use?
In order to stay competitive and give our students the best possible education, we use a variety of Christian curriculum. You may access "Academics" on the website for specific curriculum information.
Do you teach from the perspective of one denomination?
Covenant Christian School is non-denominational. All of our instruction is Bible-based, and we emphasize the importance of Biblical application to academics and everyday life.
What "special" classes do you teach in elementary?
In addition to Bible, English, History, Math, and Science, elementary students will take Physical Education, Art, Library, Computer and Music classes.
What electives are available in secondary (grades 7 through 12)?
Sudents in Junior High may choose from Art, Choir, and Drama classes. High School students may choose from Art, Covenant Praise Group (CPG), Yearbook, Growler, and Web Team classes.
Do you have after-school care available?
We have Cougar Care available to parents who need assistance with child care after school. Cougar Care is available from 3:30pm until 5:30pm. For more specific information, access "Cougar Care" on the website.
How early may I drop off my child in the morning?
We begin receiving students at 7:45 each school day morning.
What is your current enrollment and what are your class sizes?
Our current enrollment is 293. We have 173 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade and 120 students in 7th through 12th grades.
My family is searching, but does not currently have a church home. How will I be able to obtain a Pastor Recommendation?
If you are currently searching for a church home in the area, you may ask the pastor from your last church home to complete the Pastor Recommendation form.
What are the school office hours?
The school office is open from 7:45am until 4:00pm each school day.
If I need to reach my child's teacher, what is the best way?
The most efficient way of contacting your child's teacher is to email them directly. You may access your child's teacher's email by using the following format: firstname.lastname@ccsconroe.org. The office staff will gladly leave a message for your child's teacher, but they cannot interrupt instruction periods by transferring phone calls into the classrooms during class time.
How involved can parents be at Covenant Christian School?
There are countless ways parents can be involved at Covenant. We ask each family to volunteer 24 service hours each year. Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) and Booster Club are parent organizations offering multiple service opportunities. What sports are available at Covenant Christian School?
Team sports are available to our students beginning in grade 6 continuing through grade 12. In the fall, CCS offers 6-man football, volleyball, cross-country, and soccer. Winter sports include basketball, and cheerleading. In the spring, your child may participate in baseball, softball, and track and field. How long does the application process take and when will I be called for an interview?
The time span from submitting an online New Student Application to enrollment at Covenant varies. How long it takes to received required records and recommendation forms greatly affects the waiting period which is why we strongly recommend all records and completed recommendation forms be faxed to the Admissions Office. Once an application file is complete, you may expect to be called for an interview within 2 to 3 business days. After the interview has taken place, you will be notified of your status by e-mail within 2 to 3 business days.
What extra-curricular activities are available to Covenant students?
Throughout the school year, students in grades Kindergarten through 8 participate in the ASCI Spelling Bee, Math Olympics, Art Fair, Choir Festival, Speech Meet and Science Fair. Secondary students are encouraged to serve the school and our community through Key Club and Student Council and Honor Society. Each year they participate in Art Fair, Science Fair and TAPPS State Choir Competition. Secondary students may also become members of Spanish, Science and Chess Clubs. In their junior year, our Drama students produce a Junior Play which is performed at the historic Creighton Theatre in downtown Conroe. In spring of alternating years, Covenant Praise Group (CPG) is privileged to travel to New York City and performs at Carnegie Hall. Our secondary students have the opportunity to tour various European countries, beginning with Italy in the summer of 2013.
