The Team
At the start of the year, the Covenant Christian Boys'Basketball Team had little time to prepare for the season before they were thrown into their first couple of games. With a core of four returning starters and nine upperclassmen to lead the way, the expectations for the upcoming season were set at a very high level. Through the course of the year, there were both the good times and the bad, but the glue that held the team together was the bond each and every one of the guys had with one another - the bond of brothers. They started off with a pair of victories at the beginning of the season after essentially only a couple days worth of practice. Then the team dove up and down with a combination of wins and losses until they gained a remarkable victory against Woodlands Prep, giving Coach heldman his 500th career win. Energized by this feat, the team reached the Covenant Christian Tournament with a new sense of unity. Through the stages of the tournament, they achieved a new level of chemistry as they played together on the court, propelling them to their second straight championship on their home court. The bond stayed strong afterward. Two more tournaments passed by, and then the team charged through district with a record of 4-4 for a third place finish to carry them into the playoffs.
