ATHLETICS | WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to Cougar Athletics. I am humbled and honored to be a part of what God is doing at Covenant Christian School. As an Athletic Director, my greatest heart and vision is to train young athletes to see beyond the field/court. True success in life is so much bigger than wins and losses. As believers we have a unique platform to honor God with every gift and opportunity He lays before us. This includes athletics.
At Covenant Christian School athletes are challenged to excellence in spirit, soul, and body so that we may more effectively reflect the image of God within us. As an Athletic Director and coach one of the best ways to help teach young athletes this excellence is to model it within myself and within the athletic department as a whole. Excellence is not about being better than someone else... it is about being the best you can be... in the place God has positioned you... with the tools God has given you.
This does not happen overnight nor does it happen all at one time. It happens by "Winning the Day". Choice by Choice and Day by Day we will choose excellence. We will choose to give when we feel like keeping. We will choose to press further when we feel like quitting. We will choose to sacrifice when we feel like running. We will choose honor when we want to complain. We will choose to love when we are frustrated. We will choose victory when we feel defeat. We will choose humility when we feel pride. It is then, in doing these things, that we truly have success. It is then that we impact people in a way that expands way beyond the field/court. It is then that we change lives and bring honor to God.
Phillippians 1:9-11 (ESV)
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
